FEDS: William Fisher stole mail throughout the Middle District of Florida

Melbourne man sentenced to 42 months in prison for debit card fraud and post box break-ins
U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron sentenced 60-year-old William Fisher to 3 years and 6 months in a federal prison for access device fraud and aggravated identity theft. Fisher pleaded guilty on April 4, 2024.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced William Fisher, 60, of Melbourne, to 3 years and 6 months in a federal prison for access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Fisher pleaded guilty on April 4, 2024.

According to court documents, while teaching Tonie Marie Marriott, Fisher knowingly and fraudulently used an unauthorized debit card in another person’s name to make over $1,000 in purchases at various retail stores and elsewhere.

Together, Fisher and Marriott also broke into U.S. mailboxes and stole mail throughout the Middle District of Florida.

Marriott had previously been sentenced to three years in a federal prison for her involvement in the crimes.

This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kara M. Wick.
