One of Australia’s cheapest electric cars has just received a little more competition in the price war, as the GWM Ora range has been reduced and prices adjusted accordingly.

The GWM Ora Standard Range recently lost its title as Australia’s cheapest electric vehicle to the MG ZS EV Excite, but remains competitive with a retail price of $35,990 (ex-factory).

There is now also a generous discount on the long-range version.

The Ora Extended Range is now available from $36,990 (was $38,990) and increases the range to 420 km instead of the stated 310 km of the Standard Range.

Not long ago it was priced at $40,990, so the price has been cut by thousands of dollars and is now only $1,000 more than the standard range.

The two have similar specs, apart from a 63kWh battery that replaces the smaller 48kWh battery of the standard model, allowing for a longer range. Production of the higher-spec Ultra has been discontinued, and only the top-spec Ora GT offers more features.

However, the price of the GT was also reduced, possibly to fill the gap previously filled by the Ultra.

The GT has the 63 kWh battery but a shorter range of 400 km. It now costs $1,000 less, at $43,990. That’s also $3,000 less than the GT cost just a few months ago.

The three variants of the range retain their technical specifications. The GWM Ora is a front-wheel drive electric car with an engine with an output of 126 kW and 250 Nm, which can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in the stated 41 or 50 minutes (standard and extended/GT ranges respectively).

The Ora’s closest competitor in electric vehicle pricing is the BYD Dolphin Dynamic, which costs $38,890 (before road legal), followed by the MG4 Excite with a 51 kWh battery for $39,990 (ex-factory).
