Wayne J. Beebe

Wayne J. Beebe, 72, of Jamestown, died Monday, August 12, 2024, at UPMC Chautauqua.

A lifelong resident of the area, he was born in Jamestown on November 26, 1951, to the late Derwood and Marilyn Carlson Beebe.

He graduated from Southwestern Central School in 1970.

From 1971 to 1973 he served his country as a member of the US Army in Vietnam.

Wayne worked as a tool and die maker until he was involved in a car accident in 1990.

He kept himself busy in his tool shop making keepsakes for his family and friends. He enjoyed gunsmithing and working with firearms. Wayne’s family meant everything to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

His wife Cheryl was the love of his life and did everything she could to ensure that he was always happy. Her unwavering support and care brought him endless joy throughout their life together.

Surviving are his wife Cheryl Hoffman Beebe, whom he married on April 20, 1974, three children: Ericka (Daniel Wirges) Gowan, Johanna Beebe and Michele Straight, grandchildren: Jacob Beebe, Jenna Straight, J. Mason Gowan, Abbey Beebe, Jackson Gowan, Emily Winton and Caitlin Straight, great-grandson: Marcel Vansickle, siblings: Kenneth (Roxann) Beebe, Patricia (Richard) Page, Michael Beebe, Barbara (Paul) Evanczik and Thomas Beebe and his brother-in-law Charlie Hoffman, with whom he had a particularly close relationship.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law Jack and Irene Hoffman, his siblings Mary Beth Muoio (?) and Jon Beebe, and his son-in-law James Gowan.

Wayne’s family would like to thank the VA, Will Care nurses and local fire departments.

The viewing will take place on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lind Funeral Home.

There will be no funeral service.
