SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – At Lobster Jo’s Beach Camp in Santa Barbara, kids are in for a wild ride of surfing, crafts and skating.

“I’m just cruising and skating and having a lot of fun,” said camper River Boydston of Lobster Jo’s Beach Camp.

“Lots of fun” awaits Boydston, known as “Bubbles,” at Skaters Point.

“I love camp because all the counselors help you push yourself, like they make you feel like you can do anything,” says camper Catalina Quijano of Lobster Jo’s Beach Camp.

Along the shoreline near Stearns Wharf, there are so many campers frolicking in the waves that it gives you a “Where’s Waldo?” feeling.

It can be difficult to choose just one child.

When they’re not busy screaming at the camera, campers practice their comedic skills in front of a live audience.

The children in the carousel house showed their artistic side.

“I worked really hard on it and I really like it because I added sand,” said camper Emmy Gonella of Lobster Jo’s Beach Camp.

The children made wax candles, but some of them got wax on their fingers.

“I just kept diving further and further and further,” said camper Joni Meehan of Lobster Jo’s Beach Camp.

As the day concluded, the camp founder, known as Lobster Jo, hoped he could pass on his love of the ocean to the children while bringing them together, no matter how loud it gets.
