La Bonne Brosse Boar Bristle Brush Review 2024

I’m very low maintenance when it comes to my hair – I don’t own any heat styling tools, my product range is essentially just shampoo and conditioner, and I usually just let my hair air dry unless I go to the hairdresser. My minimalist approach to hair care is undoubtedly thanks to my La Bonne Brosse No. 1 Boar Bristle Brush, which makes every day a good day for my hair without me having to put in any effort. I’ve been using the brush for a few months now and my long hair is noticeably healthier and shinier. I even have fewer split ends, which is truly a miracle.

For reference, I have fine hair (a Japanese hairdresser once called it “baby silk”) that reaches just above my shoulder blades. I usually find that my roots get greasy and I need to wash my hair every few days, but frequent shampooing can dry out my ends, causing them to become frizzy.

La Bonne Brosse No. 1 Small hairbrush for shine and care

The La Bonne Brosse brush allows me to use my washes for longer because it contains boar bristle fibers, which are not only super gentle on my hair, but also distribute the natural oils evenly from scalp to ends, so I need less shampoo (or dry shampoo!). Plus, like human hair, boar bristles are made of keratin, meaning they prevent damage and breakage while reducing static.

I used to hate brushing my hair because my fine curls would break from being unable to detangle them, but since using this brush, I look forward to it every night. I know it’s an outdated beauty cliche, but I brush my hair like a true Disney princess every night with a hundred brush strokes as part of my evening self-care routine. Honestly, brushing my hair with the No. 1 feels more like a full-blown scalp massage – not a post-shower beauty task – so a hundred brush strokes is nothing.

Aside from its high-quality, hair-massaging bristles, it also looks striking. The biodegradable bio-resin handle comes in a selection of pretty pastel colors, all with a glossy shimmer, so you can choose your favorite color to slip into your handbag or display on your dressing table like your favorite perfume bottle. Although Bonne Brosse’s #1 brush is my favorite brush, you can take an online quiz on the website to find out which brush from the range is best for you (vegan brushes are available too!). La Bonne Brosse’s brushes are certainly expensive, but the handcrafted hair tools will last a lifetime – and make you feel like a queen!
