Reebok launches a new fitness app

Reebok has officially entered the race for digital fitness supremacy.

The athletic shoe and apparel maker announced Wednesday that it will launch a new subscription app called Reebok Fitness. Users will be able to access workouts with trainers, record runs and walks with a GPS tracker, find nutrition and wellness tips – including guided meditations – take part in challenges and connect with other users in the community. And of course, there will also be deals on Reebok gear and opportunities to shop within the app.

If you’re thinking, “Wait, another new fitness and wellness app?”, we understand. Nike Training Club and Nike Run Club, Alo Moves, Lululemon Studio, and Adidas Running are just a few of the big-name athletic shoe and apparel brands that have accompanying lifestyle and workout apps. And then there are the Pelotons of the world, who started as digital fitness brands but then expanded their offerings to sell gear (including a partnership with Lululemon for fitness content and products). And don’t forget that these days, it seems like every gym, Pilates studio, and popular trainer has their own app or digital platform.

“Studies have shown time and again that people who enjoy their workouts and feel part of a community are more motivated to stick to their fitness program.” Richard Sale, CEO of the Reebok Fitness App

The pandemic is to thank for the first digital fitness boom, which is now less of a trend and more the norm. Plus, other brands have shown that if you’re in the business of selling sneakers and athletic apparel, entering the digital fitness landscape is a great way to build brand loyalty. So if you make workout gear, it makes sense to have a wellness app these days, even if it puts you in direct competition with Nike.

So what makes Reebok different? In Reebok Fitness, you’ll find fitness and wellness classes, tracking, nutrition and lifestyle information, leaderboards, challenges and forums that are included in most other apps – although not every app offers all of that in the same place. Reebok emphasizes that it’s fun, community and holistic approach that sets it apart.

“Studies consistently show that people who enjoy their workouts and feel part of a community are more motivated to stick with their fitness program,” said Richard Sale, CEO of the Reebok Fitness app, in an email. “To support this, the Reebok Fitness app provides a dynamic platform that encourages an active lifestyle through exciting group challenges and interactive community leaderboards. Our platform also offers a wealth of resources on nutrition and wellness, ensuring a holistic approach to health.”

A subscription to the Reebok Fitness app costs $99.99 per year (and you get a seven-day free trial). If you’re a Reebok customer, you can get 40% off the app – just log into your account and purchase the app through the Reebok website, where you’ll then receive a code for the discount.

The app can be purchased by anyone via Reebok.com.
