Travis Kelce is entering his 12th season with the Chiefs with a changed look, and teammate Patrick Mahomes believes the credit goes to the tight end’s superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
During an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday, the 28-year-old Chiefs star quarterback commented on Kelce growing his hair longer – something Mahomes has been pushing for for some time.
“I was trying to get him to grow his hair and all of a sudden Taylor is making him do it,” Mahomes said, according to TMZ.
Kelce wore longer locks than usual with his buzz cut during training camp this summer.
The Chiefs will look to repeat that success in 2024, seeking their third consecutive Super Bowl after winning the championship in each of the last two seasons.
Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime last February.
Kelce celebrated his third Super Bowl victory with 34-year-old Swift by his side as she traveled to Las Vegas for the big game from Tokyo, where she performed her successful Eras Tour.
The couple then celebrated with Mahomes and his wife, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brittany Mahomes, who developed a close friendship with Swift last season.
Swift’s whirlwind romance with Kelce sparked an uproar after her first performance at Arrowhead Stadium last September, when she watched the proceedings from a suite with Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce.
She cheered on the nine-time Pro Bowler at various competitions throughout the year.
Kelce then supported Swift around the globe as she continued the international leg of her Eras Tour, which concludes in London on August 20 before returning to North America in the fall.
After a foiled terrorist attack, Swift canceled three shoes from Vienna, Austria last week.
Page Six reported that Kelce contacted Swift “immediately.”
Kelce and the Chiefs prepare to open the season at home against the Ravens on Thursday, September 5.
Kansas City defeated Baltimore 17-10 in the AFC Championship Game in January en route to the Super Bowl.
