XPeng’s MONA M03 will launch on August 27th at a starting price of ,000

A few days after starting mass production of its new MONA M03 sedan in China, XPeng Motors has set a date for the official launch and announced the starting price. Priced at around $19,000, the MONA M03 will be XPeng’s most affordable BEV model to date.

August is proving to be a busy month for XPeng Motors and its latest all-electric model, the MONA M03. It’s been less than six months since XPeng alerted the public to plans for affordable, AI-centric BEVs from MONA, which was originally described as a sub-brand.

The Chinese automaker has since started describing MONA as a new range of XPeng-branded vehicles, starting with the M03 sedan. The next-generation MONA 03 EV was officially unveiled in early July and promises a starting price of under 200,000 RMB ($27,500).

Over the weekend, XPeng founder, chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng announced that mass production of the new model had already begun in China ahead of its official launch in August. Today, Chinese media pointed to a new product poster from XPeng, which revealed that the MONA M03 will launch at a significantly lower price than originally promised.

XPeng announces starting price and launch date of MONA M03

As emphasized by CnEVPost and other Chinese media, a new product poster of the MONA M03 revealed that the starting price is expected to be 135,900 RMB ($19,040). If this does indeed become the official base MSRP, the MONA M03 will launch for about $7,500 less than expected.

Furthermore, the MONA M03’s new price will make it the most affordable XPeng model yet, coming in well below the current P5 model, which starts at 156,900 RMB (about $22,000). According to the poster, the M03 will officially launch in China on August 27, and we’ll likely learn more about the sedan’s various trim levels, pricing, and performance specs then.
