Gordon Lintz appointed new Chief Administrative Officer of Claiborne Medical Center

Covenant Health announced that Gordon Lintz, current President and Chief Administrative Officer of Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System, will join Claiborne Medical Center as President and Chief Administrative Officer, effective August 5, 2024. Lintz will continue to lead Morristown-Hamblen.

“I look forward to working with the team at Claiborne Medical Center and learning more about the Tazewell community,” Lintz said. “I know there are best practices in Claiborne that can be shared in Morristown-Hamblen and vice versa. Both hospitals will be stronger for working more closely together.”

Lintz succeeds Patti Ketterman, who served as Claiborne’s CAO since 2015 and retired. She also held other leadership positions within the Covenant Health system.”

“Gordon has done an outstanding job leading and growing the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System for 12 years, and I look forward to supporting him in his additional leadership role,” said Mike Belbeck, executive vice president of operations for Covenant Health.

Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell, Tennessee, joined the Covenant Health system in 2014. The 85-bed facility is accredited as an acute stroke hospital and has received national awards for its quality care and patient safety. Services include emergency and medical care, stroke treatment, and diagnostic and imaging services. The long-term care facility, Claiborne Health and Rehabilitation Center, has received a 5-star rating from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Lintz’s current responsibilities as CAO at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System include overseeing hospital operations, which consist of emergency services, comprehensive acute care and ancillary services, and rehabilitation therapies. This also includes specialty services such as cancer care, cardiac care, women’s care, and wound and hyperbaric care. In addition, he oversees Morristown-Hamblen West, an ambulatory care facility with a stand-alone emergency department, diagnostic center, breast imaging center, and primary care practice.

Before being named CAO at Morristown-Hamblen in 2012, Lintz joined Covenant Health in 2008 as president and chief administrative officer of the Thompson Cancer Survival Center, the health system’s oncology services provider. There, he oversaw the center’s growth, including introducing new technologies, expanding patient care services, and implementing systems for productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction. He also previously worked at Covenant HomeCare and Hospice. Before joining Covenant Health, he spent over 20 years in numerous nursing and leadership roles at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Lintz is a licensed nurse and nursing home administrator. He holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and his Bachelor of Science from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He also holds a nursing degree from Southwest Community College in Memphis, Tennessee.
