19-year-old man dies after cops find him shot on sidewalk: Passaic prosecutor

PATERSON, NJ – Officials are investigating the gunshot death of a 19-year-old Paterson resident who city police found lying on the sidewalk early Wednesday morning.

According to the Passaic County District Attorney’s Office and Paterson police, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert near Market Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard just after 2 a.m. Police found the man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound, officials said.

First responders took him to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where medical personnel pronounced him dead, authorities said.

In an initial statement, the public prosecutor’s office did not provide any information about the suspect or identify the victim, as the investigation is still ongoing.
