Next Step Domestic Violence Project hosts free dance fun for the whole family

MACHIAS, Maine (WABI) – This Saturday, Machias is the place for family fun!

The Next Step Domestic Violence Project hosts its first free family dance!

Join them at Machias High School from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for dancing, games, raffle drawings and a community art exhibit.

The event is completely free and is designed to encourage community members to get out, have fun and learn about the nonprofit organization that helps residents of Washington and Hancock counties, Maine, put an end to domestic violence and abuse.

Next Step was started by a committee of community members and hopes to continue to organize events like this that everyone can participate in.

“The conversation was really about making sure that Next Step is very inclusive and accessible and that everyone knows that we are here for absolutely everyone. So our services are available to absolutely everyone, our community events are available to absolutely everyone and we really wanted to highlight that by having this type of event at the end,” said Alli Williamson, Director of Prevention and Youth Services.

There is no need to register or buy a ticket – just come along on Saturday with your dancing shoes!
