Two Ohio State Buckeyes in the top 10 of the Biletnikoff Award odds

Recently, the preseason watch list for the 2024 Biletnikoff Award was announced and one wide receiver from Ohio State made the list. That is senior Emeka Egbuka. Egbuka is widely considered one of the best wide receivers in the country for the upcoming season, which explains why he was among the receivers on the watch list for the award for the nation’s top receiver.

FanDuel Sportsbook has released its odds for this year’s Biletnikoff Award winner, and Egbuka wasn’t the only Ohio State wide receiver to make the top 10. Egbuka is tied for the fifth-best odds at +1400 with Miami’s Xavier Restrepo. Just behind those two, at +1600 on the award, is freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith. Although he has yet to play a down in college football, expectations continue to rise for the young wide receiver.

Missouri’s Luther Burden III is the favorite to win the Biletnikoff trophy this season at +300 odds. Two Oregon Ducks are ahead of Ohio State’s receivers at +650 odds for Texas A&M transfer Evan Stewart and +1200 odds for returning starter Tez Johnson, good for 2nd and 4th, while Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan is in 3rd place at +850 odds.

It could be a closely contested race for the Biletnikoff Award this time around, but the Buckeyes will be looking to win the award in back-to-back seasons. Marvin Harrison Jr. was the 2023 winner before being selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 4 pick in the NFL Draft.

Although Egbuka is expected to top Ohio State’s wide receiver list this season, it’s interesting that Smith is being given such high odds before this season even begins. If the first-year wide receiver can surprise the college football world and win this award in 2024, not only would he be the third Ohio State wide receiver to ever win the award, but Smith could become only the third repeat winner of the award in 2025.
