Iredell Health System is proud to welcome Jonathan Garrett, PA-C, to the Iredell Orthopedic Center. With over 22 years of experience in orthopedics, including two years in spine surgery, he will be an important addition to the health system and the Iredell Physician Network team.
Garrett graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and completed his physician assistant degree at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. He also holds an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy from Frederick Community College.
His interest in healthcare began early.
“When I was in college, I tore my anterior cruciate ligament and had to have surgery. That was where I first met a physician’s assistant. It seemed like exactly what I wanted to do as a career and it fit in with my studies. Six years later, I was a physician’s assistant,” Garrett explained.
His transition from another community health facility to Iredell Health System was smooth.
“I have been working with the Iredell Health System team for nearly 21 years now. Many of my coworkers were my patients in other settings, so it was a good idea to join,” he said.
He believes that his approach to patient care sets him apart from other providers.
“Conventional and functional approaches seem to define me. I feel like I’m easy to get to know and take as much time as necessary to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan,” he said. “My goal is to get patients back to their baseline so they can maintain their current activity level.”
