Mid-Plains United Way partners with Walmart Distribution Center for Workplace Giving campaign

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska (KNOP) – Mid-Plains United Way has partnered with the Walmart Distribution Center in North Platte as part of the Workplace Giving Campaign.

The campaign supports people in the community who do not speak English, helping them find schools and doctors and integrate into the community.

The Walmart Distribution Center employs more than 600 people and helps newcomers feel welcome. When the distribution center was asked if it would partner with Mid-Plains United Way, human resources manager Jennifer Rogers said it was a no-brainer.

“I mean, this started long before our building was built. Sam Waltman was a big believer in building strong communities and supporting the community, which only makes us all better, but it was a natural transition for us to support United Way because they partner with so many other organizations in the area, but they support not only our staff and management employees, but all the communities around us and the members there,” Rogers said.

Mid Plains United Way will also host its first golf tournament on August 26 at the Dismal River Golf Club in Mullen.

The Walmart Distribution Center was selected as the main sponsor of the event.
