Bleaching for Game of Thrones completely ruined my hair!

Emilia Clarke says her role in “Game of Thrones” ruined her hair – because of the extreme bleaching.

The 36-year-old actress played Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series – based on the novels by George RR Martin – and lit up the screen with her stunning long blonde locks.

In real life, the British actress is a natural brunette and she admits that the elaborate coloring makes her hair look less lush.

Speaking to BAZAAR.com, she said: “My advice to anyone who wants to bleach their hair is: don’t do it. It will ruin your hair, so just stop doing it.”

“If you want blonde hair, just buy a wig or add some highlights because this completely ruined my hair.”

She revealed the effect bleaching had on her hair, adding: “My hair felt like straw and fell out. Then I cut it off completely. What I’m most proud of is that my hair is back in shape. I don’t do anything crazy with it now and I use really nice products. Sometimes I dye my hair a little lighter and I love that. I love Virtue; I swear by their shampoo, hair mask and root lifting product. I also have a Dyson hairdryer. I really try to take care of it. But after bleaching my hair, I’m learning to embrace my natural hair.”

Emilia wears her hair dark and in a bob style these days. She says the best way to change up the hairstyle is to use extensions to create a different look when needed.

She said: “I have a hairdresser in England who is incredible and I have Jenny Cho in America who is also fantastic. My favourite look is when they add clip-in extensions, especially for a red carpet. It looks so sleek and beautiful. I love wearing a really high ponytail with lots of extensions. It looks very dramatic.”
