Kevin O’Leary: Elon Musk is a “modern Bruce Wayne”

Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary says he thinks Elon Musk is a superhero – the real-life version of Gotham City’s masked avenger.

“I think this guy is a modern-day Bruce Wayne,” O’Leary said of Musk in an interview with Fox News’ “Big Money Show” on Tuesday, comparing Musk to Batman.

“You know, I have to disclose something. I’m a huge fan of Elon Musk, and to be completely honest, my son works for him and loves his job at Tesla,” O’Leary said in an interview earlier.

O’Leary also said he thought it would be “a good thing for everyone in America” if Musk joined the government.

“The guy doesn’t mince his words. He’s very outspoken and really knows what he’s doing. He’s got assertiveness. You may not like him, you may not like his communication style, but look at what he’s accomplished,” he added.

“If we could get more Elon Musks in government, this country wouldn’t be in the situation it’s in and wouldn’t be so divided,” O’Leary said.

Of course, Musk hasn’t always been keen on a role in public service. In May, Musk dismissed a Wall Street Journal report that there were talks of a role for him in a future Trump administration.

“There were no discussions about a role for me in a possible Trump presidency,” Musk said. wrote in an X-Post in May.

But during his livestream with former President Donald Trump on Monday evening, Musk floated the idea of possibly joining a commission to improve government efficiency if Trump wins the election.

“I think it would be great to have a government efficiency commission to look at these things and make sure that taxpayers’ hard-earned money is spent wisely, and I would be happy to help with such a commission,” Musk said Monday.

“I would like that,” Trump replied.

Meanwhile, O’Leary’s recent comments about Musk are consistent with previous compliments he has paid the Tesla CEO.

“Think about what this man has accomplished and how he’s changed everyone’s lives – space, what he’s done with electric cars, making the economy greener. Should we punish him for that? Is he a bad guy?” O’Leary said while defending Musk’s vast fortune in an interview on “Real Time with Bill Maher” in November 2021.

But O’Leary’s “Shark Tank” colleague Mark Cuban has a completely different attitude towards Musk – and towards politics.

While Musk fully supports Trump, Cuban supports Vice President Kamala Harris. Cuban also accused Trump’s billionaire backers of trying to take over his campaign team and “put themselves in a position where they have as much control as possible.”

“They want Trump to be the CEO of the United States of America, and they want to be the executive that makes him listen to them,” Cuban said in an interview with “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart that aired Monday.

Representatives for O’Leary and Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside of regular business hours.
