Forgotten Pokemon gets “epic” card in new TCG set

In Stoneham

Stellar Crown is fast approaching, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game community has been treated to another handful of exciting card reveals, courtesy of the official Pokémon site.

One card that has caught the community’s attention features an unusual star – Crabominable. The woolly crab Pokémon is largely ignored by the community due to its usually disappointing design and attack power, but with this reveal of the Stellar Crown, it has received somewhat of a makeover.

When it appeared on X and was torn apart by eager fans, Crabominable (149/142) received mostly positive reactions from the community, with a few people also making fun of the cuddly crustacean.

Pokemon reporter @PokeJungle shared his thoughts on the frosty new card, saying, “Actually makes Crabominable look epic,” and seemed a bit surprised by the ethereal design.

One Pokémon TCG player chimed in, “Oh this is beautiful,” while another reposted the card and added, “Shitty artwork for the ugliest Pokémon ever.”

Others shared this sentiment, with one enthusiastic fan declaring, “The graphics on this map are great, too bad it’s Crabominable.” Crabrawler’s evolution is far from a fan favorite, though the map’s competitive nature might convince some skeptics.

Although it is an expensive attack that costs 4 Colorless Energy and 1 Water Energy, Haymaker is a powerful move that has the potential to one-shot enemies for 250 damage.

The Food Preparation ability offers perfect synergy with Kofu, allowing a cost reduction of 1 colorless energy for each Kofu card in the discard pile. While this is a bit special, with the right deckbuilding strategies it could be potentially deadly.

This synergy has confused some Pokémon TCG players on X. One commented, “DEAR Crabominable!! Is Food Prep suggesting he…munches on Kofu??”

Although Crabominable is heavily used as a meme in the community, this card could prove to be a rare and valuable find for collectors once Stellar Crown releases. Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, it has a unique aesthetic that should stand out from the majority of the expansion set.
