The Guadalupe Center is accepting student registrations for the afternoon program.

Guadalupe Center’s highly rated afterschool program continues to accept student enrollments for the 2024-25 school year.

The after-school program, which begins Aug. 28, is a free, school-based program for children in kindergarten and first and second grades who need extra support in reading, math and other subjects. The program is offered at all five public elementary schools in Immokalee – Eden Park, Highlands, Lake Trafford, Pinecrest and Village Oaks.

“Cost and transportation are two major challenges facing families in Immokalee. Eliminating program fees and conducting the program directly in public school classrooms provides students with the academic support they need to succeed academically,” said Dawn Montecalvo, President and CEO of the Guadalupe Center. “Our afterschool program is an extension of the school day, and the extra time makes a huge difference over the course of a school year.”

Standardized test results show that 100% of students in the afterschool program make significant progress in reading and math.

The program can serve up to 800 students and is funded entirely by donations, including grants and donations from generous individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations. Major supporters of the Guadalupe Center include Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF), Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, United Way of Collier and the Keys, Future Ready Collier and Collier Cares, among others.

Classrooms are staffed by certified teachers and assisted by teens in the Guadalupe Center’s college-preparation Tutor Corps Program.
