These updates make it easier to create interesting videos with your action camera.
The hardest part of creating action videos is knowing how to edit them. Insta360 wants to make that easier with two new updates to the Insta360 app.
Insta360 announced the update to the Insta360 app in a press release to Lifewire on Thursday. The update, which is available for download now, adds automatic AI scene detection and more than 40 new automatic motion templates.
Automatic scene detection looks at the objects or subjects in your video and determines the interaction between them. It can then detect what type of video it is (examples in the press release include winter sports or travel) and automatically selects the best shots for you to choose from. You can then export only the shots you have selected.
According to Insta360, this feature allows you to not only identify a subject, but also the subject’s interactions to create a more comprehensive story.
The automatic motion templates add motion to your videos – like rolling, panning and sliding. This feature lets you drag a motion into your timeline. There you can adjust the speed and perspective. The end result is a smooth transition between the keyframes in your video. You can even add your own motions or modify existing motions in the app.
According to the press release, “the updates are available for all 360º footage from Insta360 cameras, including X4, X3, X2 and RS (with the 360º lens).” If your Insta360 app does not update automatically when you open it, you can download and install the update manually. You can access the download for your device on the Insta360 website.
