In just 30 minutes, you’ll learn how to save a life and get the free tools you need to do it.

The Greater Boroughs Partnership for Health is providing more opportunities for the public to learn how to use Narcan and obtain the supplies they need.

The free life-saving training sessions will be offered every month this fall at the Southborough Library. Each session is open to anyone age 12 and older.

09172024NarcanTrainingThe flyer for the next session is:

Nearly 40% of overdose deaths occur in the presence of bystanders. Bystander access to Narcan can save lives.

The flyer also emphasizes that using Narcan on people who have overdosed on opioids will not harm anyone who has not taken it.

The event page explains:

Narcan is the brand name of the generic drug naloxone and is a life-saving medication that, when administered in a timely manner, can reverse an overdose of opioids, including heroin, fentanyl and prescription drugs.

This free Narcan training provides participants with a brief introduction to recognizing an opioid overdose, when and how to use Narcan, and a free kit to take home.

The kit contains:

  • 2 doses of Narcan
  • Fentanyl test strips with instructions
  • Face protection
  • Instructions for administering Narcan
  • Recovery Resources Guide

The events take place every month on a Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Southborough Library. The dates are:

  • 17 September
  • 15 October
  • 19 November
  • 17 December
