Many voices vie for the attention of LPGA Tour professional golfer Rose Zhang, but only one is really important to her.

“Once you start wandering out of that little bubble a little bit, the noise hits,” she said on the “Sports Spectrum” podcast. “And I’ve realized that my quiet times with the Lord are so much more valuable because they allow me to put into perspective what’s really important – how I can glorify Him without having to think about other people or what they expect of me.”

“And I guess I didn’t understand how important prayer and quiet times were until the voices of the outside media, even your own family, even your own friends, sometimes put those kinds of expectations on you,” she continued. “So I realized that it was in times of silence, reading the Word, journaling, talking with friends about His Word. That’s the time when I can really reflect and think about Christ, how He can guide me, how He can be a light that allows me to grow without having to think about what other people want from me or what they expect from me.”

Zhang competed in the Olympics for the first time this summer in Paris. Although she didn’t win a medal, she is grateful for the opportunity.

“To be here in Paris, putting on the USA kit and representing everyone back home? This is truly a global warming moment. I’m grateful to everyone who has helped me along the way. I’m excited to compete – to show the world who I am,” Zhang told the Players Tribune.

She is also open about her faith on social media and often uses the hashtag #allglorytogod in her posts.

After a victory earlier this year, she wrote, “It was a hard blow for me and I could not have done it without the power and voice of Christ: ‘…the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.’ ~ John 10:3.”

“Rose Zhang is a golfer on the LPGA Tour who was a highly decorated collegiate golfer. She had one of the greatest amateur careers of all time at Stanford, where she won the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Championship,” Sports Spectrum said of her career so far. She “won her first professional tournament, the Mizuho Americas Open, becoming the first player since 1951 to win her professional debut on the LPGA Tour.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Scottie Scheffler, another professional golfer who gives glory to God:

American golfer Scottie Scheffler won an Olympic gold medal on Sunday, but the fact that he is one of the best golfers in the world does not define him.

“During his country’s national anthem, a visibly moved Scheffler wiped tears from his eyes. A video of the moment went viral on social media,” Crosswalk reported on August 6…

“I’m incredibly proud to come here and represent my country,” he said. “…It was just very emotional to be up there on the stage when the flag was raised and to sit there and sing the national anthem. (It’s) definitely one that I’ll remember for a long time…”

He said“I’m a religious person. I believe in a Creator. I believe in Jesus. Ultimately, that’s what defines me the most, I think.”

He continued, “Yeah, I feel like I’ve been given a platform to compete and showcase my talent… I think that’s what defines me the most, my faith. I believe in a Creator, and I was called to come here and do my best to compete and glorify God. That’s pretty much it.”
