As another season of the game comes to an end, Fortnite servers will be taken offline Thursday night into Friday morning.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Fortnite downtime and the new Marvel-themed Chapter 5, Season 4.

What time is the Fortnite update today?
Fortnite’s current season is coming to an end soon. According to the game’s service update page, Chapter 5, Season 3 ends Thursday at 10pm CTAt this time, the servers will be taken offline for maintenance to upgrade to version 31.00.
“Absolute Doom is approaching Battle Royale Island… threateningly!” Fortnite posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Downtime begins (Thursday, 8/15) at 11pm ET, with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand.”

Are the Fortnite servers down?
Between the end of Chapter 5, Season 3 and the start of Marvel Absolute Doom, the Fortnite servers will be down.
Based on the downtime for previous season releases, website Polygon estimates that Fortnite will be offline about four hours.

When will the Fortnite servers be available again in 2024?
Based on the timing of previous releases, Fortnite servers will be back up Friday around 2 a.m. CT with Chapter 5, Season 4.
Of course, server maintenance can take longer than expected, as we found out when Chapter 5, Season 2 was delayed in March due to extended downtime.
The trailer for the next season debuted at the Fortnite D23 event on August 10.
According to Polygon, many new Marvel weapons were shown, including Black Panther’s claws and Captain America’s shield. And according to Forbes, Wolverine is apparently a banana named Peelverine.
Additionally, MCU fans can find references to upcoming movies and TV shows in the new Fortnite season, according to Forbes, with the company calling the season “a more interactive and cross-media collaboration than most.”
