Jimmy Fallon’s haunted house comes to New York’s Rockefeller Center

NBC turns New York’s Rockefeller Center into a haunted house, with a little help from Tonight Show Host Jimmy Fallon and the team behind Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

The company is launching “Jimmy Fallon’s Tonightmares” next month, a ghost maze experience based on the late-night TV host’s nightmares, featuring “10 terrifying rooms” full of scares.

The company says it will “bring the nightmares to life in a fully immersive haunt with terrifying sets, special effects and scares around every corner” and that it was co-developed with the team behind the Halloween Horror Nights experiences, which have become a beloved annual tradition at Universal Studios theme parks. NBCUniversal’s Global Franchise Management Group also worked with Fallon on the real-life experience.

Tickets start at $36.90 and go on sale August 22. The experience at NBC’s world headquarters is scheduled to run through October 31.

“Tonightmares has everything you need to get really scared this Halloween,” Fallon said in a statement. “I’m not saying there are killer scarecrows, brain-hungry zombies and an abandoned gas station in the middle of nowhere. But… there are… killer scarecrows, brain-hungry zombies and an abandoned gas station in the middle of nowhere. Spoiler alert.”

Horror experiences have become big business for NBCUniversal, with Halloween Horror Nights attractions in California and Florida drawing thousands to the parks each night, with a series of elaborately designed ghost mazes (many based on NBCU IP) set up in each park.

As with Halloween Horror Nights, NBC states that Fallon’s horror attraction is not recommended for children under 14. NBCU is also building a permanent horror attraction in Las Vegas.

“Every year, we bring Halloween to life in new and exciting ways on NBCUniversal with Halloween content and experiences,” added David O’Connor, president of franchise management and brand strategy. “Whether in our theme parks or in film and television, we build on our rich horror heritage and are excited to help Jimmy Fallon combine his true passion for the holiday with our company’s expertise to create this one-of-a-kind experience.”
