Android owners were today urged to delete three dangerous ‘clone’ apps – or risk having their bank accounts looted. Android owners and users were urged to take action and delete the apps located in the Google Play Store.

Cyber ​​researchers at ESET have discovered three popular apps that aim to steal personal information from Android owners. The trio hide the open-source malware XploitSPY, which could target your personal data and details.

Android owners are urged to check their devices for Dink Messenger, Sim Info and Defcom. People are warned to delete these three apps immediately – otherwise they risk having their bank accounts accessed by cruel and heartless scammers and thieves.

They are part of a targeted campaign that began in November 2021 to spread malware on Android phones mainly in India and Pakistan, according to ESET. T o Delete apps on Android, o Open the Google Play Store app and tap the profile icon in the top right corner.

Tap “Manage apps and devices.” “Manage.” Select the name of the app you want to delete. Tap “Uninstall.” The researchers said: “Apps containing XploitSPY can extract contact lists and files, the device’s GPS location, and the names of files listed in certain directories related to the camera, downloads, and various messaging apps such as Telegram and WhatsApp.”

They further added: “The malware also uses a native library that is commonly used in Android app development to improve performance and access system features. However, in this case, the library is used to hide sensitive information such as the C&C server addresses, making it more difficult for security tools to analyze the app.”

The report identified ten more apps that contained code based on XploitSPY and shared the results with Google, the warning to users around the world said.
