Jeff’s overview:

The Winnebago football team is under new leadership as Dusty Welsh takes over the program from Adam James, who is now an assistant at Lyons-Decatur Northeast. Coach Welsh tells us about his career.

Coach Welsh comments on his returnees from last year.

Winnebago said goodbye to Antrell Harlan, Cashus Kearnes, Kaden Kennedy, Melaki George, Santonio Nieman, Mateo Canales, Xanthony Cleveland, Devin Houghton and Oscar Earth last year.

Welsh explains how the offseason went.

I think the Indians have a chance to do very well at the All Nations Conference this year too.

Jeff’s season outlook:

Winnebago hopes to do great things again this season. Welsh says the goal is to play on Championship Saturday.

Welsh says the Indians don’t have many kids this year.

He talks about Winnebago keeping things running.

The Indians open the season on Thursday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m. in Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, SD. Coach Welsh previews the game.

It will be interesting to see how Winnebago does this year with many new faces and a new coach.

I think it will be important for the Indians to stay healthy given their limited player count.

Jeff’s opinion on the season:

I think Winnebago will be good again this year. I think the Indians have a good chance to get back to the Dakota Dome and play for another championship. As cliché as it may sound, Winnebago needs to focus on each and every game that comes up each week and not overlook anyone. I think the Indians’ ability to focus and play at a high level each week will be very important.

Winnebago Indians schedule for 2024:
