Local music and family fun come together in Orem Friday and Saturday at the 5th annual Come Together Rock Festival, held at the Orem City Center Park pavilion and stage.

Performances by over 20 local bands are expected, as well as vendors and booths hosting contests and sweepstakes with prizes totaling over $1,000, including an electric guitar and a computerized sewing machine.

The event will take place on Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The festival is described as a celebration of live music performances with support of local charities and a vision of strengthening community unity.

According to the organizers, around 2,000 people attended last year and they are ready to entertain many more people in 2024.

Orem City and the Utah Live Concerts Foundation began collaborating on the festival in 2020, at the height of a turbulent global pandemic.

New this year is a free community breakfast Saturday morning starting at 8:30 a.m. hosted by the Orem Neighborhood Commission, as well as a fireworks display by the City of Orem. The event also includes a farmers market, the Classic & Exotic Car Show and more.

More than two dozen sponsors have donated money to ensure that the festival remains free and open to the public.

John Pilmer, a board member of the Utah Live Concerts Foundation, said attendees will enjoy plenty of classic rock music. Some of the bands that will perform have been together since the 1970s.

“How many (bands) can stay together that long? It blows my mind,” Pilmer said.

Pilmer is a musician himself and plays bass guitar in the band Geneva Road. He often partners with Moe Low, who will be on stage on Friday night during the festival.

“With over a hundred musicians participating, thousands of dollars worth of giveaways, donations to charities and precious memories for the whole family, our festivals have become a symbol of togetherness,” a press release said.

Sponsors this year include Best in Music, Dave’s Bernina, Jordan Camper, Minky Couture, Utopia Fiber, In-N-Out Burger, Texas Roadhouse, Trader Joes and Krispy Kreme.
