A father-son duo was taken into custody following a dramatic incident at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.

Dominic J. Affronti, 23, of Palmyra was charged Thursday with trespassing, assault, obstruction of government and resisting government authority. Authorities say Affronti was initially asked to leave the fairgrounds after a fight, but then returned and became involved in a physical altercation with officers, injuring two officers.

Following his arrest, Affronti was booked into the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and released with a summons. He is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Village Court at a later date.

Meanwhile, 62-year-old William A. Affronti was taken into custody after allegedly shoving a uniformed Wayne County Sheriff’s deputy and resisting arrest as he was being escorted from the fairgrounds that same evening. Deputies say Affronti also tried to intervene as officers arrested his son, further escalating the situation.

Following his arrest, Affronti was issued a summons by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and released with a summons. He is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Village Court on September 3.
