Is Blake Lively’s hair care line worth it? Target employee says no

Blake Lively caused controversy following the release and subsequent promotional tour of her new film “It Ends With Us.”

As Alex Abad-Santos for Vox“(Co-star and director Justin) Baldoni and Lively reportedly didn’t get along, and he allegedly ‘shamed’ her about her weight by asking someone how much Lively weighed – a scene involving the two of them requires him to lift her up and he was afraid of hurting his back. And rumor has it that he didn’t like Lively inviting her husband, Ryan Reynolds, on set to direct some scenes.”

Additionally, Lively has come under fire for the way she is promoting the film. Critics say that much of Lively’s promotional material makes it seem like the film is all fun and games. For example, in one TikTok video, she says the line, “Grab your friends, put on your floral dress and go out and see it!” However, the film contains numerous themes, such as domestic violence and abuse.

At the same time, Lively is promoting her new hair care line Blake Brown and her beverage company Betty Buzz. Now a user on TikTok has sparked a debate after claiming that a Target employee told her that the first product did not keep its promises.

Is Blake Brown worth it?

In a video with over 1.5 million views, TikTok user Kate Perry (@girlboss997) says, “This is a PSA – I just want everyone to know that the cool teen who works the customer service desk at Target told me that everyone has been returning Blake Brown hair products.”

“She said the shit wasn’t worth $20,” Perry adds.

In a comment, Perry goes into detail about what she says happened: “I was returning something and I saw the shampoo bottle on the counter and I was like, oh, can I smell that?? And she was like, ‘Sure, but everyone returned it.'”

While this alleged Target employee claims that customers are disappointed with the product, reviews for the product line are mostly positive.

Page Six wrote, “Overall, we were pleased with the performance—and especially the scent—of Blake Brown’s first few products. We especially liked the fragrant lather of the shampoos and the rich, deeply hydrating masks,” although they complained about the products’ packaging.

“In my personal testing, the shampoos lathered beautifully and left hair clean but not stripped. The masks feel like a warm hug on your hair, adding softness, moisture and shine without weighing hair down,” added Jenna Rosenstein for Harper’s Bazaar. “I can see them finding a permanent place in my shower.”

In a follow-up video, Perry visits Target to check out the items for herself. She finds that most of the products on the shelf have been sold out.

“My original shampoo costs over $28 so I bought the Blake Brown for that $20,” wrote one user. “It smells good and works well on my wavy hair.”

“I’ve used it three times, the nourishing shampoo and alternating between the nourishing and strengthening masks,” added another. “My hair feels great but looks just OK. A little frizzy and greasier at the roots than my L’Oreal which is a third of the price.”

“I bought it and have it in my car to return it,” explained a third.

The Daily Dot contacted Blake Brown via email, Target via email, and Perry via direct messages on Instagram and TikTok.
