Card reader found in New London supermarket: Police

NEW LONDON, CT — A card skimmer was recently discovered at NSA Supermarket in New London, and police are warning residents and customers who frequent the South Frontage Road store to check their credit card information and notify their bank if they notice any suspicious activity.

Card skimmers are devices that illegally intercept credit and debit card data. In recent months, such devices have been found in other parts of Connecticut.

“Everyone should keep in mind that additional fraudulent card readers could be placed in a variety of locations, not just those where they have already been discovered and removed,” New London police wrote in a statement. “We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious devices or activity at payment terminals. Your cooperation is invaluable in assisting law enforcement in investigating these matters.”
