The Cotocon Group, a Hicksville-based sustainability consulting firm, is launching a new mobile app that monitors a building’s energy use and carbon footprint.

The app called “The Carbon Shield” is intended to help Building owners, managers and board members monitor their carbon footprint in real time. The goal is to efficiently monitor energy consumption, detect leaks and promote sustainability, compliance and cost savings.

“The launch of The Carbon Shield is a significant step forward in energy monitoring and sustainability,” said Jimmy Carchietta, CEO of The Carbon Shield and founder of the Cotocon Group, in a company statement. “Our goal is to provide building owners and managers with the tools they need to efficiently manage their utilities, comply with New York City’s sustainability laws, and most importantly, protect their assets. We understand the unique challenges owners and managers face, and our app provides a customized solution to meet those needs.”

The new Carbon Shield mobile app allows users to optimize resource allocation and reduce energy waste without the costs associated with traditional energy management services, the company said. It allows users to track their electricity, gas, water, steam and oil usage and provides updates on compliance status with local laws.

Currently, the app, which integrates with Con-Ed, Utility API, National Grid and other utilities across the country, is only available through the Apple Store for iOS starting Monday, August 19.

The Cotocon Group, which also has offices in Manhattan and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, advises property owners, managers and developers on reducing energy use, decarbonizing and regulatory compliance. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has appointed the consulting firm as the primary energy advisor for projects related to NYSERDA’s New Construction Initiatives. The Cotocon Group is also a Technical Assistance Efficiency partner of PSEG Long Island, according to the company’s website.
