Current exhibition

“Flights of Fancy”; July 19th – August 26th
Last chance to see Flights of Fancy at the Art Center of Estes Park. Come see the enchanting art exhibit Flights of Fancy, featuring oil and mixed media paintings by Astrid Paustian and wood carvings and pyrography by Jim Sneary. This stunning exhibit is now running
through August 26 at the Art Center of Estes Park. After 36 years in the aerospace industry, Jim Sneary decided to try his hand at bird carving. Very quickly he realized that it would require instruction, practice and a lot of patience. Now he enjoys his bird carvings and his pumpkin art. Jim is always looking for new and fun things to try and has added wood burning on wood and paper as well as carving and wood burning on pumpkins to his list. He finds the work very relaxing and it is a special bonus when others are pleased with the results.

“I want to paint as the bird sings,” Claude Monet once said. This quote captures the joy and spontaneity that Astrid Paustian seeks to express in her art. She lives in Colorado and is inspired by the stunning landscape and skies there. Working in oil, pastel, mixed media, and silk, Astrid enjoys the vibrant colors and textures these mediums offer. Her art has become increasingly abstract, seeking to capture a sense of place and fleeting moments in time. In abstract paintings, abstracted landscapes, and plein air works, she uses vibrant colors intuitively to create peaceful and uplifting works.
