New England Patriots quarterback Drake May revealed an NFL moment from Thursday’s preseason game that he will remember for the rest of his life.
That moment was when he scored his first NFL touchdown while five other rookies were on the field, including wide receivers Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker.
“It was definitely cool to have those guys out there,” Maye said after the game, via NBC Sports Boston. “I think one of the first things I did was I gave JP (Ja’Lynn Polk) a chest bump. So it was cool to be out there with some of the guys that are in the same situation and going through the same thing. It was fun times for us. It was a moment I’ll probably never forget.”
Maye had a successful performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. In the Patriots’ 14-13 loss, he completed 6 of 11 passes for 47 yards, along with four runs for 15 yards and a touchdown.
It was a memorable day for the rookie quarterback, who made his first extended appearance in the preseason.

Mayes’ performance was the first big step in his development. He is still inexperienced in terms of quarterback skills.
Nevertheless, he showed what he can do as a quarterback. Time will tell if that is enough to challenge Jacoby Brissett for the starting spot in New England.
