5 reasons to believe South Carolina football’s offense can be better than expected

South Carolina football fans were not happy with how the 2023 season played out. A 5-7 record hurt as it kept the Gamecocks out of a bowl game, and the offensive and defensive issues slowed the team’s upward trajectory it had been on during the first two years of the Shane Beamer era in Columbia.

Last fall’s regression makes the 2024 season a crucial one for the Garnet-Blacks. USC faces another tough schedule (as always), but there are several reasons to believe the 2024 version of the South Carolina football team can be an improved group and produce better results than last year’s product.

Thanks to intense recruiting efforts in 2022 and 2023 and a deep class coming out of the transfer portal, there could be plenty of new faces joining the Gamecocks this fall, but uniquely, South Carolina will play with a balanced mix of freshmen and returnees in 2024 as it looks to turn things around and regain relevance in the Southeastern Conference. Even the coaching staff looks different than what fans have been used to.

Taking into account the personnel changes (both on and off the field), this article will examine five concrete reasons why the Gamecocks will be better on offense this season.
