Apple still blocks Fortnite in the App Store in the US

People with mobile devices in the US who are not iPhone users can now download the Epic Games Store.

The battle between Epic Games and Apple has been going on for about four years, but now it seems that Epic Games may be making progress.

In a press release on Friday, the company announced that the Epic Games Store is now available for download on iPhones in the EU, all Android phones worldwide, and AltStore PAL. Note that iPhone users in the US and outside the European Union are not included in this group. That’s because Apple still blocks Epic in those regions.

The EU’s Digital Markets Act allowed Epic Games to bypass Apple’s block. However, just because users can download the Epic Games Store doesn’t mean it’s easy. Instead, Epic wrote in the press release:

“Currently, the Epic Games Store installation process on iOS and Android takes a long time because Apple and Google intentionally introduce inferior installation experiences that involve multiple steps, confusing device settings, and scare screens. We continue to fight in court and work with regulators around the world to remove the anti-competitive terms Apple and Google impose on developers and consumers so we can build a better store for everyone.”

However, if you are willing to go through the download process on the Epic Games Store, you will have access to Fortnite, including Battle Royale And Chapter 5, Season 4: Absolute Doom! as well as Fall Guys And Rocket League dig and more games are set to appear in the store in the near future. Let’s just hope that all of this will soon lead to changes in the US as well.
