Cupcake wars at the senior center

The Trumbull Health Department will host the third annual Public Health Cupcake Wars on August 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Trumbull Senior Center, 23 Priscilla Place. Open to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The participation fee is $5 (non-refundable). Call the Trumbull Health Department at 203-452-1030 (ext. 0) to register and make payment.

“We encourage children to participate in this fun event,” said Luci Bango, health director for the Trumbull Health Department, in a press release. “It’s an opportunity for children to show their creative side and express themselves.”

Participants will be given a maximum of two cupcakes to decorate. All materials will be provided. It cannot be guaranteed that the ingredients used are allergen-free. Participants can take their cupcakes home and enjoy. Prizes will be awarded according to age groups. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

Free Narcan training

There will be a free Narcan training next Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Trumbull Public Library, 33 Quality St. Come to the library during this time and receive a free training and Narcan kit. Training sessions will be held every 15 minutes. Learn how you can save a life. Lockers are available while supplies last.

Local students are on the Dean’s List

The following Trumbull students have been named to the University of Delaware Dean’s List for the Spring 2024 semester: William Flewelling, Caitlin Colbert, Keira Grant, Jacqueline Dale, Ella Smith, Avery Aaron and Juliana Pucciarelli.

To meet the Dean’s List eligibility requirements, a student must be enrolled full-time and maintain a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).

Survey responses required

The Trumbull Health Department is asking residents to take a short, five-minute survey and answer some questions about the city. The survey is available at surveymonkey.com/R/2024CBANS.

This 2024 community-based wealth and needs survey will help understand the quality of life and important issues facing people in this region.

The Trumbull Health Department works with partners to distribute Datahaven’s community-based resources and needs survey to local residents as a member of the Health Improvement Alliance. HIA is a coalition formed in 2003 to meet the health needs of Greater Bridgeport, which includes Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.

Women from Trumbull community collect relief supplies

The Trumbull Community Women are now collecting school supplies to benefit students and their families attending the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport.

You will need spiral notebooks, double-pocket binders, pens, pencils, markers, colored pencils, calculators, sticky notes, glue and blunt scissors.

The Giving Tree donation box is located in the library’s main lobby, 33 Quality St., just outside the interior entrance. Donations can be dropped off any time the library is open through October.
