Soccer fans in Los Angeles will be able to watch the Premier League in a unique new way during the 2024–25 season.

The top-flight season started on Friday night with Manchester United beating Fulham 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a late goal from Joshua Zirkzee on his debut.

73,297 fans were present at the encounter, but many more enjoyed the intense gaming experience despite being thousands of kilometers away.

Cosm Los Angeles, which describes itself as an “experience center,” broadcast the game live from its stadium, but the broadcast had a surprising twist.

Instead of just watching the game on television, it was shown on a 27-meter LED screen in what Cosm described as a “shared reality.”

The view was virtually a simulation of what it was like to be inside Old Trafford, with the stadium crowd blending into the wider area around the venue.

The resemblance was frighteningly real: the camera changed angles depending on the section of the pitch, giving fans the opportunity to watch the Premier League like never before.

Subsequently, several videos showed fans in various areas of the stadium during the events on Friday evening.

This meant that the fans were virtually in the front row of the Stretford End when Zirkzee scored the winning goal for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Inside the arena, fans were served food and drinks and the screens made them feel like they were on the sidelines of Old Trafford.

Tickets for the experience can be purchased on levels one to three of the Cosmo Dome, ranging from $66 (£50.99) to $132 (£101.98).

However, the most frequently displayed price was $83 (£64.12), more than the price of a ticket to see Chelsea play Manchester City on Sunday.

Clips shared on social media summed up the intense experience, with fans left overwhelmed by the new way to watch the game.

One commented: “This place is unreal,” while another added: “So jealous. Have fun!!”

Another fan said: “This is crazy, I thought you were at Old Trafford,” while another supporter joked: “This is crazy, I thought you were at the game for a minute.”

One supporter simply said, “Wow,” and a final fan added, “This is incredible.”

The venue opened earlier this year and described itself as “laying the foundation for the future of live entertainment.”

A variety of sporting events will be broadcast, including football, NFL and UFC. Tickets are still available for Sunday’s match between Chelsea and City.
