Colts’ rising prospect among NFL’s top free agents in 2025

The Indianapolis Colts will rely heavily on the pass rush to make a difference, and a breakout candidate can put himself in a position to make big money.

Edge rusher Dayo Odeyingbo is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is coming off a season in which he recorded 8.0 sacks, nine tackles for loss and 17 quarterback hits.

He is expected to take another step forward and be one of the top free agents entering the market in 2025, according to Gregg Rosenthal, who ranked Odeyingbo 41st among all pending free agents.

“A talented pass rusher who has a chance to have an outstanding season as part of a great Colts pass rush,” Rosenthal wrote.

Due to Samson Ebukam’s torn Achilles tendon, the Colts are without a top-notch pass rusher, but Odeyingbo has more playing time.

The former second-round pick has been a versatile asset to Gus Bradley’s defense since recovering from a torn Achilles sustained while training for the 2021 NFL Combine.

Since he began receiving regular playing time in Week 10 of the 2022 season, Odeyingbo leads all defensive players with 60% or fewer snaps played with 11.5 sacks, according to Stathead. He also ranks second in quarterback hits (24) and third in tackles for loss (12) during that 25-game span.

If his upward trend continues, Odeyingbo could be a hot commodity on the market if the Colts fail to agree to a contract extension with him by then.
