Brian Littrell has had several cancerous lesions removed from his body.
The Backstreet Boys star revealed he would advise his younger self to be more careful when sunbathing after suffering “several” health problems.
Speaking to Allure magazine, he said: “If I could give my younger self one beauty tip, it would be to use sunscreen. I actually had several cancers removed from my body.”
The 46-year-old star, whose roster includes the “I Want It That Way” hitmakers Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, also revealed that he uses a range of beauty products as he gets older.
Brian explained: “I like Aveeno lotion because my facial skin is tough but can also get irritated sometimes. I use Olaplex for my hair. I started using it seven or eight months ago and already have hair in places where I didn’t have any before, which I think is extraordinary.
Howie also stressed the importance of taking care of your skin.
He said: “We’re not even 20 at this point. Every now and then I do a HydraFacial, use moisturizer and sunscreen. We’re like wine: we get better with time, but you have to massage those grapes and keep them nice and juicy and plump.”
Meanwhile, McLean admitted that he was having a hard time coping with his hair loss.
The 43-year-old singer said: “Personally, I struggled with hair loss for a long time. I ended up going for the sleek pitbull look where the hair is just bald and I’ve had hair surgery since then.
“I did it right before my wedding, which was 10 years ago in December. This year I’m going under the knife again.”
