This is what happened to Megan Keleman, the 25-year-old woman from Ohio

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, August 14, around 7:30 p.m.

Authorities said Keleman had threatened the 53-year-old Jason Williams in a Taco Bell drive-in. Williams is said to have honked at Keleman. The man is also said to have driven his car into the back of her car.

After her car was hit, the 25-year-old allegedly asked an employee to call the police. However, Williams allegedly got out of his vehicle and shot the 25-year-old before turning the gun on himself.

According to the source, Keleman died of a gunshot wound to the neck, while Williams died of a gunshot wound to the head.

In addition, the Akron Beacon Journal adds that police received 14 calls at the time of the incident.

Why did Jason Williams commit murder-suicide?

According to the source, Williams’ motive for the shooting remains unknown. Additionally, it appears he and Keleman did not know each other.

“This is a true tragedy,” Stow Police Chief Jeffrey Film said during a press conference earlier this week. “Not only did the Kelemans lose a daughter, but the entire community lost a daughter… We don’t have an answer at this time as to why this happened and may never know.”

WKBN adds that as of August 15, “it was not yet known whether” the 53-year-old “was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

“It appears the individual was in crisis,” Film explained, according to the outlet. “I don’t think we’ll ever be able to explain the motivation behind his decision.”

What happens next?

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the case is reportedly being investigated by the “Summit County Coroner, Stow Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.” The paper adds that the last murder case in Stow, Ohio, occurred “five years ago” and that the city currently “does not have enough homicide detectives to cover the case.”

“In a situation like this, we want to do our job as well as we can, and with their additional resources … I think that will help us figure out how this happened,” Film said, according to USA Today.

Additionally, the outlet adds that Keleman’s family released a statement regarding her death.

“In light of recent events, our family is suffering an immensely painful loss of Megan Elizabeth Keleman,” the statement said. “We appreciate the community’s support and hope our wish for privacy will be respected so we can continue to focus on supporting each other during this difficult time.”

The outlet adds that Taco Bell has remained closed since the incident, with the location reportedly prioritizing the “well-being of employees and moving at their pace.”

In addition, the company is reportedly offering “support” resources to its employees and cooperating with authorities’ investigations.
