Drake admits he wrote “Too Good” about Serena Williams

Drake has admitted that he wrote his 2016 song “Too Good” about Serena Williams.

For a long time there were rumors that there was a romantic relationship between the rapper and the tennis star – and now Drake has practically officially confirmed the relationship.

Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, shared a video on social media explaining some of his musical inspirations to his mother Sandi Graham.

“I smoke a few too many joints, but this is more about me and Serena,” he said, referring to the 2016 song.

“It’s funny because when I write songs about women, I’m also writing songs for them. So I know what kind of song to write.”

He further explained that he prefers to write positive songs that his flames would enjoy.

“If I’m going to talk about them, I’m going to at least do them justice by playing them a song they like,” said Drake, 37.

“So I know Serena very well and I know she’s going to hear it loud and clear, but she’s not going to hate me for it either because it’s lighthearted.”

Drake was often seen courtside at Serena’s tennis matches in 2011 and the two were spotted kissing in 2015. Shortly thereafter, however, the 42-year-old began dating her now-husband Alexis Ohanian.

She and Alexis welcomed their daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., called Olympia, in September 2017. In August 2023, Olympia had a sister, Adira River Ohanian.
