Teri Hatcher declares her dating app era is over

The “era” of Teri Hatcher’s dating app is “now over”.

The 59-year-old Desperate Housewives actress was stunned when she was kicked off dating website Hinge, which she had recently joined after two failed marriages – her first to Marcus Leithold, whom she was married to from 1988 to 1989, and her second to Jon Tenney from 1994 to 2003, during which they had a daughter.

She hinted that she had given up on the search for true love when she told radio presenter Chris Evans (58) on his Virgin Radio show: “I think the idea (of signing up to a dating app) was to tell the universe, ‘I’m open to dating.’

“Everyone talks about it: ‘You have to make gestures to the universe to make things happen to you.’

“And that was mine… I sign up for a dating app and it generally says that I’m open and ready to date, right?

“Although I don’t think I ever really thought that would be the direction I would go in.”

Teri added of her resignation from Hinge: “But I also never thought that one day I would open the app on my phone and be blocked!”

The Tomorrow Never Dies star added that she believes she was kicked off Hinge because, on the one hand, people didn’t believe she was on the site and reported her profile – and, on the other hand, other users who thought her account was real and complained when she refused to go out with them or didn’t respond to their messages.

She added: “I think when I was using the app, there were people who said, ‘That can’t possibly be Teri Hatcher – what is she doing on this app?'”

“Or they said, ‘Hey, do you want to go out with me?’

“And when I didn’t, I think they were mad that I didn’t respond. And I think those people must have collectively alerted Hinge that someone was pretending to be me.

“But that whole era is over now. I’m still not dating anyone, but I’m not on any apps either!”
