Emma D’Arcy joked that they were “allergic” to long hair

Emma D’Arcy joked that they were “allergic” to long hair.

The “House of Dragon” star, who uses the pronouns “they”/“them,” doesn’t want to wear the same hairstyle as his character Princess Rhaenyra in the HBO prequel to “Game of Thrones,” but has great respect for the “art of wig wearing.”

The 30-year-old actor told the digital edition of GQ: “I put it this way: I’m almost ‘allergic’ to a lot of hair.”

“I think the art of wearing wigs is pure magic. They are made for you so that they fit perfectly on your head. The illusion is seamless. A good wig immediately changes your behavior, your posture, but also, slightly, how you are read and perceived.”

Emma also doesn’t like to dress up in a conventionally feminine way on the red carpet.

You said: “‘Glamour’ is not a word I particularly like… I have a strange relationship with it.”

“In these inherently public spaces, I try to distance myself from myself. I want to be at least two steps to my left, because it can be very vulnerable to be out there as myself.”

Last month, Emma gushed about how “grateful” they were for their co-star Matt Smith, a veteran of big-budget projects such as The Crown and Doctor Who, who plays Daemon Targaryen from the world created by George RR Martin.

They said, “God, I’m so thankful for Matt. I learned a lot from him. I learned how to play in an environment that can be very stressful. He taught me how to ignore the different pressures, the time pressures, and all the things that come with recording on this scale and go back to basic principles.”
