Drake Bell is joining a possible reboot of “Drake & Josh” with his on-screen brother Josh Peck, but with a twist.
In a recent interview with The Patriot NewsBell, 38, revealed that while he would “love” to work with 37-year-old Peck again, he has some new ideas that go beyond a typical reboot.
“We talked about it,” Bell said, adding, “But I didn’t want to do it when everyone was doing the reboots.”
While Nickelodeon has successfully brought back several classic shows, such as Good burger, Zoey101And iCarly (starring Drake and Josh’s on-screen sister Miranda Cosgrove), Bell is interested in a different approach.
Bell noted that he wants to do something “special” and shared his vision for a new context for the same buddy comedy format.
“I think luckily it’s our names, so we can still play Drake and Josh,” he explained. “But I think it would be funnier if we did more buddy comedies, you know? Something that’s kind of surprising, a little different.”
Bell and Peck played the titular step-siblings for four seasons in Drake and Josh from 2004 to 2007. The success of the show led to a television movie, Drake and Josh go to Hollywoodin 2006, and two one-off specials.
