Apple iOS 18 brings new features to the Maps app

iOS 18 will bring a lot of changes to several applications on the iPhones. Although Apple is a bit inactive when it comes to AI features, it still brings some changes to the Maps app that will be more than useful for people. Some of the major changes are custom routes, hiking trails, save favorites, search here, notes, and library.

Upcoming features of Apple iOS 18

Custom routes: Apple Maps now allows users to plan specific hiking routes as per their convenience. At the starting point, you can tap on the “Create Custom Route” button to create a route of your choice. Here you can set the starting points and other details. However, the Maps app does not let you create unsafe routes for trekking. And the best part is that route creation is not limited to hikes and trails only. You can add any marked point to the map, tap on the “More” option and select “Create Custom Route”.

Save favorites: You can now save your custom routes, trails or hikes by adding them to the library. To do this, simply tap on “Find a relevant route” and then tap the “Add to library” button. In addition, you can rename and add information to a specific hike and even download the route for offline use.

Library: Any content you save from the Maps app, like guides, routes, pins, and locations, are stored in the Library section. And that’s not all, the Library also shows you all recently added content in one place.

Search here: With iOS 18, Apple has made it easier to find locations with the “Search Here” button. For example, if you search for a place and then tap “Search,” it will search the area around your screen rather than the physical location. When you zoom in on a specific location, a “Search Here” button will appear to get all the details of a specific place.
