Motta: “We can’t wait to get going against Como”

Our first men’s team starts the 2024/25 Serie A season on Monday, August 19th, at home against Como. The season begins for the Bianconeri at 20:45 CEST at the Allianz Stadium.

Before the visit of Como, coach Thiago Motta spoke to the media in his press conference on Sunday afternoon.

“We can’t wait to get started tomorrow. We want to get off to a good start and be on the right track to achieve our goals,” said Motta. “We want to put in a good performance and get the points.”

“We have prepared well, it has been an intense week of work and we are looking forward to playing the first home game. It creates a lot of enthusiasm that the boys have to live out. We all feel privileged to experience such moments, to enjoy the pre-game and to go out and do our best.”

“I will select my eleven based on performance. So whoever starts and who comes on as a substitute has earned their place on the pitch. I am relaxed about the transfer market and we are working hard to build a competitive team.”

“We have to do our best tomorrow, we have to compete and give everything on the pitch. Como is playing an open game, we are playing against a team with very experienced players. With all due respect, we will try to play the game on our terms.”

“(Weston) McKennie is a useful player for us. (Kenan) Yildiz wearing the number 10 is a big responsibility, he takes on a historic shirt and is a player with enormous quality. Although he is still young, he has already grown a lot and knows how important it is to work hard.

“(Dusan) Vlahovic looks good to me, he works and helps the team, he is a great player but every player needs a great team around him. I am happy with the enthusiasm we have shown in our preparation, now it is time to give our best on the pitch.”
