Motorists using the M56 eastbound – away from North Wales – face significant delays of up to 90 minutes today due to emergency sewer repairs.
Lanes one and two of the eastbound carriageway were closed between Junction 14 (Hapsford) and Junction 12 (Rocksavage) after a broken metal grate was discovered.
A National Highways spokesman said they were alerted to the defect at 5.25pm yesterday, Saturday 17 August.
“For the safety of motorists and staff, lanes 1 and 2 will remain closed in this area. Repairs took place overnight and further repairs are currently expected to continue into the afternoon.”
“Anyone planning a trip to this area is strongly advised to plan ahead, allow extra time to get to their destination or, where possible, seek alternative routes.”
