Johnson Controls digital registration app speeds up maintenance of fire protection systems

According to Johnson Controls, the newly announced app is designed to help users complete system activities more quickly.

MILWAUKEE – Johnson Controls, a global manufacturer of smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, has launched the Johnson Controls Digital Enrollment mobile application (Digital Enrollment App).

The company claims the new app is the first mobile app of its kind in the fire detection industry to automatically address fire detection and alarm devices. Johnson Controls points out that by simply scanning and downloading data via a QR code located on each addressable device, the Digital Enrollment app provides an addressing solution that eliminates errors and is faster compared to traditional methods and does not require any special tools.

“Today’s busy, understaffed service and maintenance teams need modern, user-friendly tools to increase their efficiency as much as possible,” says Martin Schulte-Frankenfeld, Senior Director of Product Management, Fire Detection at Johnson Controls. “With the Digital Enrollment app, teams have a tool that allows them to install and configure fire detection systems faster, easier and more reliably than previous methods – and all directly from their smartphone or tablet.”

Johnson Controls Digital Enrollment App offers users options

The app allows users to install and configure addressable fire detection devices such as point detectors, annunciators, call points and accessories from Johnson Controls brands including FireClass and Zettler.

The Digital Enrollment app provides users with two workflow options for installing a new fire alarm system. The recommended option is to create a device list in the mobile app and sync it using the app’s panel configuration tool. Alternatively, installers can download the device list from the configuration tool and sync that list with serial numbers using the mobile app.

“With the new Digital Enrollment app, new FireClass and Zettler fire alarm devices can be addressed more efficiently and important device data is easily accessible,” explains Schulte-Frankenfeld. “This app is an extremely handy tool for installers who configure fire alarm systems in buildings such as hospitals, schools, campuses, offices and more. And because it transmits device data quickly and accurately, building operators and facility managers can do their jobs with more confidence.”

Johnson Controls also explains that each device’s QR code contains a serial number, SKU (part number) code, model number and date of manufacture. They also provide access to product-specific data such as technical publications, certificates, pricing and ordering information. In addition to new system installations, the Digital Enrollment app and QR code make it easier to process replacements of faulty or dirty devices.

The global company adds that users can download the Johnson Controls Digital Enrollment app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
