Two bodies found in the Ohio River within 24 hours

BOONE COUNTY, Kentucky – An investigation is ongoing after two bodies were found in the Ohio River near northern Kentucky within 16 hours.

Boone County Water Rescue reported on Friday, August 16th at approximately 8:10 p.m. that they were alerted to a possible body floating down the river. Rescuers found the victim between the Purple People Bridge and the Taylor Southgate Bridge and released the body to the Newport KY Fire Department and the Campbell County Coroner’s Office.

At approximately 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, barge crews were dispatched to locate another body in the water on the Ohio side, just downstream of the Brent Spence Bridge. The scene was secured so police detectives, crime scene investigators, and the Hamilton County Coroner could conduct the investigation.

Boone County Water Rescue said in a press release that both rescues are currently under investigation.
