Now users can search for hospitals in Farishtey using Mapple mobile app: DGP Punjab

CHANDIGARH: In line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision to improve road safety and emergency care in the state, the Traffic and Road Safety Department of Punjab Police in collaboration with the State Health Authority (SHA) and Map My India have ensured that hospitals registered under the Farishtey scheme are searchable through Mappls Mobile App, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said here on Sunday.

The aim of this initiative is to provide seamless navigation assistance that enables users to quickly find and reach nearby hospitals, especially in the event of a road accident.

In particular, the Government of Punjab had launched this ambitious Farishtey programme to reduce the morbidity rates resulting from road accident injuries and to provide prompt, hassle-free treatment at the available government/government-recognised private hospitals.

Till now, Farishtey Scheme has successfully registered 384 hospitals across Punjab including 238 private and 146 government hospitals. These hospitals which have completed the online application process for Punjab Farishtey Scheme 2024 are now accessible through Mappls Mobile App.

Terming this initiative as a significant step towards improving emergency response capabilities, Deputy Director General of Police (ADGP) Traffic and Road Safety Punjab AS Rai said that the integration of Farishtey Hospitals with Mappls Mobile App will ensure that victims of road accidents receive timely medical assistance, which is crucial to save lives. The Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF) will also use this system to transport accident victims within the critical golden hours, thereby improving survival rates, he added.

He said that in order to encourage the public to help accident victims and save their lives, such ‘farishteys’ would be rewarded with cash prizes and certificates of award and would be given immunity from legal complications and police investigations.

Under the Farishtey system, people who help in transporting injured people to hospital are recognized as ‘Farishta’ by the government and rewarded with Rs 2,000.

In addition to the general public, the newly formed Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF) will use this online navigation system to transport victims of road accidents to nearby hospitals, providing crucial assistance within the golden hours and improving survival rates. All 144 SSF highway stretches are now mapped with Farishtey Empanelled Hospitals, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SHA Babita Kaler said that the collaboration with the Traffic and Road Safety Department and Map My India will help in significantly improving emergency care by providing modern navigation technology to locate hospitals. This development will facilitate speedy transportation of road accident victims to registered Farishtey hospitals, she added.

CEO and Managing Director, MapmyIndia Rohan Verma: The navigation company aimed to provide seamless navigation, real-time updates and precise mapping by mapping every hospital as a Farishtey Hospital. This initiative will improve reliability and user experience and ensure that residents can access essential medical care quickly, he said.
