Mexican Independence Day Card Promotional Offer Revealed at MSG Sphere

Riyadh Season Noche UFC, also known as UFC 306, takes place in less than a month at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will culminate in Mexican Independence Day with Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena.

With excitement building, the UFC released its full extended promo package, which includes two title fights at the top of the bill. Sean O’Malley (18-1 MMA, 10-1, 1 NC UFC) defends his bantamweight title for the second time, against Merab Dvalishvili (17-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC), who has won 10 fights in a row.

The co-main event is a highly anticipated three-way match as the women’s flyweight title is on the line. TUF 32 coach Alexa Grasso (16-3-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC) will once again face her opponent Valentina Shevchenko (23-4-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC). The fight comes nearly a year after their second meeting.

Grasso, who defeated Shevchenko at UFC 285 in March last year, was immediately yellow-carded again against Shevchenko six months later. The pair fought to a close draw, with many fans, media and pundits split on who emerged victorious.

To further promote the fight, the two will coach “The Ultimate Fighter,” the final episode of which will end on Tuesday night, followed by the live featherweight and middleweight finals on Saturday night at the UFC APEX, known as UFC Vegas 96.

The rest of UFC 306 will feature plenty of Mexican talent, as the UFC has opted for a 10-fight card (five preliminary and five main event) instead of the traditional 12, 13 or 14 fights.

UFC CEO Dana White calls the event a “love letter” to Mexican martial arts. As revealed in a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” there will also be on-screen storytelling elements between the main fights.

It will be the only time the UFC hosts an event as MSG Sphere as ticket prices are extremely high.
